| My brother works at Starbucks. One day, he decided to make a mix CD, with each of his coworkers contributing 1 or 2 songs that they NEEDED in their lives. I figured, "Let's increase the pool a bit." Choose 2 songs that you can't live without, and please explain why. Consider putting a link in your reply, especially if it is a song that isn't very well-known. I might as well start off by listing my 2 picks. My first pick is the Main Drag's cover of LCD Soundsystem's "All My Friends". If my life ever gets turned into a movie, I want this song to be playing in the background during the "marriage proposal" scene. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7rsrxYljREMy second pick is The Dismemberment Plan's "Gyroscope". It was the soundtrack to many Cross-Country races for me, and it's fun as hell. It also helps that this is from my second-favorite album of all time. Unfortunately (and surprisingly), I was not able to find a good link to it...but I was able to find a couple of kids playing with Hello Kitty dolls to the tune of this song. You have been warned. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7rsrxYljREYay! Music! | |

| Let's see. . . One song I just can't move on without HAS to be; 'Inner Take' by Ichiko Hashimoto. The song itself is very depressing; a quiet and slow melody that's emitted from a piano. It's short but deep. As the sound rises and falls, you can feel this sort of, choke of your heart so to speak. And, especially if you're sad, this song will give you one hell of a good cry. linkplz? Here you go, you lazy scally wags. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_jRkS49d84Last song I can't move on without? Man. . . it has to be 'thank you' by Tsuthie. No words can describe how it makes me feel. Well, actually, it makes me feel happy. linkplz? Thar ya go. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Qi78FHwoCA | |

| Hide and Seek , by Imogen Heap. This song brings back some painful memories. But it's so beautiful and represents a rather important part of my life. A girl I used to consider my best friend turned me on to it, and we would sing it together, and it kind of brought us together and was part of us. So it's special to me. Since then she has utterly betrayed me, and I'm no longer speaking with her, as much as that hurts me. Hide and Seek floods me with emotion about that because we were like soul-sisters. and Nothing Else Matters by Metallica. this one holds an array of reasons I can't live without it. But it's a sentimental thing. My boyfriend plays it on guitar all the time. And the lyrics make me think of how I felt about him when we first got officially together. when we broke up the first time this song made me cry upon hearing it. Now it makes me nostalgic. | |

| First song: Iris - The Goo Goo DollsSeriously, one of the best songs i've ever heard so far in my lifetime. It's comes across as a depressing song, but i can relate to it in so many ways other than just the typical depressed soul. (I'm also a sucker for strings in music so..) Anywho, i saw a comment for it once, and it summed up my thoughts pretty well about it: "Someone said that poetry is dead. Well, songs like this said a big caps NO" - AMEN to that. (Though i'm sure you've all heard it, but if you haven't..!) Link: Clicky here Second song: Hallelujah - ParamoreAnd no it's not a cover, it's actually a song. I'm not the religious type so i don't really take the song in that way either, but ever since the demo of it came out, i've found it so uplifting and empowering. I find it gives me some perspective on life too when i feel everything is falling down around me. To add to that, the rockiness provides me with the outlet to just let go of all my feelings, and start a fresh. (Damn, i've just always loved Paramore right from when they started too, haha). | Hmm I'm going to have a lot of trouble picking only two. I guess my first pick would have to be Nothing Gets Crossed Out by Bright Eyes. Every single lyrics strikes a chord with me and I feel like I could've written it. It's about not knowing what to do with your life and where you're supposed to go. LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-2qXmEhYhQMy next pick is The Luckiest by Ben Folds. It is kind of corny, but I'm a hopeless romantic and I just find this song beautiful. I'm going to play it at my wedding. It's pretty much just about two people in love despite their imperfections. I absolutely adore it. | Boats and Birds by Gregory and the Hawk would have to be one. Her voice sounds so cute an innocent, but depressing at the same time. I could listen to it on repeat for hours. Link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hmbi_Q5e38IThe second one would have to be A Year From Now by Across Five Aprils. It's not really sung, but the singer's voice fits perfectly into the song. I cried the first time I heard it. Link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=itYPzwXf174It was almost impossible for me to pick only two songs, so many have a special meaning for me. | |

They sound really unique compared to other stuff that I've heard, and I like how they mix up their styles in different songs. | |
